The building envelope is what separates the “micro-cosmos” of the internal core, and the “macro-cosmos” of the external environment, nature or the city that surrounds it. The harmony between the shell and the surrounding environment becomes particularly crucial in the case of infrastructures and important architectural works, as it involves various factors: technical, energy, protection and sealing and, last but not least, aesthetics. It is in fact the external image that welcomes us, before the internal volume that hosts us, and it is this that qualifies and presents a building.
